Guanajuato State Designs Interventions to Improve Routine Health Information System

GUANAJUATO, MEXICO – Theo Lippeveld, RHINO Board of Directors Chairman presented examples of various types of routine health information systems (RHIS) interventions to begin the fourth day of the 4th International RHINO Workshop. His talk covered technical, organizational, and behavioral interventions. The participants then worked in small groups to prepare recommendations to the Guanajuato Ministry of Health on possible interventions to improve their RHIS.

Workshop Update #4

Experts Discuss Routine Health Information Systems in Guanajuato

GUANAJUATO, MEXICO – In their small groups, routine health information systems (RHIS) professionals and health policy makers at the 4th International RHINO Workshop discussed in depth their observations from the previous day's field visits to health clinics in Guanajuato.

Groups noted how well staffed the clinics and facilities were, the high degree of information system ownership, and the availability of data.

Workshop Update #3

RHIS Experts Visit Health Facilities in Guanajuato State

GUANAJUATO, MEXICO – Ten groups of routine health information experts participating in the 4th International Routine Health Information NetwOrk (RHINO) Workshop visited 10 separate health facilities in the Mexican state of Guanajuato ranging from general hospitals to community-level facilities.

Accompanied by a representative of the State of Guanajuato Public Health System, the groups received a general overview of the facility’s routine health information management systems, went on tours of the facilities and briefly assessed the current state of routine health information system (RHIS) using the PRISM tools.

Workshop Update #2

Information the Cornerstone for Decision-Making

GUANAJUATO, MEXICO - Routine health information system (RHIS) experts were welcomed by Dr. Mario Henry Rodriguez Lopez, Director General of the Instituto Nacional de Salud Publica (INSP) on day one of the 4th International RHINO Workshop. "It is logical" Dr. Lopez said as he explained INSP's efforts to ensure they have timely and quality health information for decision making.

The Routine Health Information NetwOrk (RHINO) in collaboration with Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública (INSP), the Ministry of Health, Mexico, and MEASURE Evaluation will hold the 4th RHINO International Workshop on "Measuring and Improving Routine Health Information System (RHIS) Performance" in Guanajuato, Mexico March 8–12, 2010.

The workshop language will be English.
